| Bill's suggestions for the proposed Mission of the UoG SoE WRE
program The Water Resources Engineering program prepares professional water resources engineers to assist citizens of Ontario, Canada, the Great Lakes region, and all regions of the world, to achieve and maintain optimal, long-term management of water resources. Our mission is to provide a globally excellent learning environment through the promotion and adoption of informed, sustainable engineering design and practices of evolving issues of future significance, such as the restoration of bio-diversity in water resources. Our students have excellent basic engineering fundamentals, are numerate and literate, and have advanced information management skills. Our concept of water resources engineering includes urban water infrastructure systems (potable water supply; separation, collection and treatment of polluted waters); pump stations; hydroelectric generation; water for agriculture; river and flood plain engineering; northern engineering; and recreational uses of water resources. Bill's nominee for the evaluation committee is Raphael Bras, Chair of Civil environmental engineering at MIT. |
